Why it's built this way
Brief, high-intensity intervals like these can raise aerobic fitness meaningfully even at low total volume — Gibala's classic sprint-interval work showed adaptations from very short, hard efforts. Short interval formats are an effective and time-efficient way to train the aerobic system. Higher cardiorespiratory fitness is robustly linked to lower mortality.
